Big Greek Cafe Reopens With Grand Celebration In Maryland

A popular Greek restaurant in Maryland is ready to welcome back customers just weeks after a car plowed through its storefront, forcing it to close for repairs.

Big Greek Cafe in Urbana has officially reopened, restaurant officials announced, and the comeback will culminate with a Grand Reopening and Greek Independence Day Celebration on Monday, March 25.

The restaurant temporarily shut down after a car crashed through the front of the business in the 3200 block of Bennett Creek Avenue in January officials said.

Two people, including the driver and a guest inside the restaurant, were evaluated and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Frederick County Fire & Rescue officials.

“We are relieved to report that, although a car was driven through the storefront of our Urbana location, the driver and one guest sustained only non-life-threatening injuries,” Big Greek Cafe shared on social media after the incident.

While the damage was significant, the restaurant team quickly got to work rebuilding the space, keeping customers updated along the way.

“Reconstruction complete, cleaning in progress… doors will reopen for service TOMORROW!!” the restaurant posted on Thursday, March 13.

Customers have been rallying behind the restaurant during its closure, eager to return.

The owners say they are looking forward to welcoming guests back for a “huge” celebration on March 25 in honor of their reopening and Greek Independence Day.
